The hype of space has died down due to the lack of competent exploration. The issue is that we are focusing on the milky way galaxy while we should think outside the box and aim at Alpha Centauri, the nearest star system. There is always a way and at our current rate of expansion on earth humanity must expand. Our galaxy is going to prove to harsh to inhabit realistically for a race of people, we must look for other galaxy’s out there.People say it is impossible because Alpha Centauri alone is 3.5 million light years away. However we have accomplished the impossible before, the light bulb, nuclear technology. Once we thought the world was flat and that we would sail off. What if black holes are not what they seem. We should develop special robots to enter them and attempt to transmit useful and possibly critical information. Maybe us humans need to man up and explore it ourselves. The age of exploration is not over it has only begun. Space is the Future, one way or another.

…i guess in an ideal world this would be true, but surely due to a lacking economy, and a massive fiscal deficit the world over the last thing we should be doing is be pumping money up into space?

You are an idiot. 1) The Alpha Centauri system is only 4.3 light years from us. 2) You can’t spell for shit. 3) How do you suppose we explore the rest of the galaxy when we cannot even reach this closest star system? Even with the Hubble telescope we cannot see planets around these stars (yes, there are more than just one star in that system), so how do we know that it would even be worth our while to spend the lifetime it would take to get there? Even at a tenth the speed of light, it would take over 40 years to get there, and we cannot even come close to that. You don’t know what you’re talking about.
