I found myself utterly astonished last night upon discovering the weakness of my macintosh’s security system. The problem started a couple of days ago when safari managed to crash my mac entirely. I tried resetting the ‘PRAM’ and ‘Safe Mode’ but I couldn’t login. Rather I could login but the screen would go blue and then return to the login screen again. Two days later I continued to solve the problem under the assumption that the computer was fine but simply had a corruption in my admin account. Thus I thought to myself, how can I make an admin account without a disk? I had become familiar with single user mode or hitting command + s right after hearing the start up tone. Thus I searched for a way to enter the program a mac has for the first time you run it. This program basically just makes a new admin. I did this by entering these three lines followed by return after each.

mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now

After this is done you may login to this new admin and access all files in fellow admin accounts and even change their password. Imagine someone could just steal your computer and with a few simple lines access all you have got.

When consumers look at 2 laptops both of the same internal components and notice a $200-300 increase in price to gain 2-3 extra inches of screen the question of value vs. price arises. I had a personal experience quite similar to this once. I was purchasing a macbook pro and had 2 options, 15″ or 17″. It was a 200$ price increase but the quality of picture seemed better as well. My apple salesperson at the store said that, “It would be crazy to purchase these extra inches unless I was a director or video editor.”I was now unsure of which model to purchase though my instincts pointed towards the larger screen. This could just be my natural lust for the biggest and best though. I wanted to make sure I made the right choice so I called a friend and he said get the larger one, so I did. 2 years later when I reflect of my decision I am very pleased because those extra inches have made multi-tasking much easier, given me a much better dvd experience with friends, and better gaming experience. Think about how many times you need to have 2 browsing windows displayed or a safari window and word document opened at the same time. Quite frequently? correct? 2 little inches of screen makes this possible. Unless it is outrageous increase in price, pay for the extra inches because it will certainly make life that much easier.

Once I found out about windows 7′s release I hoped to find improvements over vista. I wanted to see and operating system with the hardware capabilities of vista and the convenience of XP. I found major frustration with certain small issues that can create big problems but then once i thought about it further it became apparent to me that this issues could be fixed and it was my point of view that prevented me from deriving this conclusion earlier. I purchase vista once every service pack had come out so I was inept of the little issues that go with a fresh os. Best features of 7 included the smart windows that adjust to make multi-tasking easy and take advantage of every inch on your screen. Also when you scroll the mouse over a tab on the bottom bar similar to XP it will show you a live mini preview of the entire window. I am sure that you will find the interface to be much smoother than any windows os. Once a couple of service packs have come out Windows 7 will be far from os perfection but still a substantial advancement in os technology and a better os than snow leopard.

This Has always been a popular debate. In my opinion both machines are fantastic but I favor the PS3 slightly. My reasoning lies behind the no hidden fees theory that PS3 supports. Online play on PS3 is all free while it cost 100$ for Xbox live membership. And a 70$ wifi plug must be purchased vs. PS3 which is already included. Also the Xbox does have one fatal flaw on top of this which is the RED RING OF DEATH as it is called. 1 out of every 3 Xboxes is rendered useless after about a year of use. Of course it will be repaired under the warranty but this still remains a hassle.

Over the Summer I wanted to build a custom computer because I realized that I could rival the xps gaming computers for around 1500$ less. Prior to this I had no experience with building computers of any kind yet I found to be relatively easy as long as you make sure all components are compatible which is harder than it seems. I completed the construction of my computer in about 5 hours including installation of the operating system. It runs crysis, cod 5, total war games, far cry, and all graphics demanding games with astonishing strength on highest settings. The specs are as follows

processor: i7 920 2.66 ghz

Hard drive: 1TB 7200 rpm WD

Graphics: GTX 260 SLI

Ram: 6GB 1600 mhz

Rating: 4.7/5
